Now that the Do
You Look Like Your Dog book to be published by Broadway
Books/Random House in January 2004 is in production and the worldwide photo
search is over, a new search is on – for sponsors to offer additional prizes
for the winners and entrants for the 1st International Do You Look
Like Your Dog Contest. Winners will be
announced in January when the Do You Look Like Your
Dog book is published, and the deadline for entries is December 1.
Now sponsors are
simply asked to pledge their prizes to be awarded at a gala celebration to
announce the winners. Before then, their
prizes will be featured on the Do You Look Like Your
Dog website, along with information about the sponsors and links to their
sites. So far, the Contest has started
lining up pledges from manufacturers of dog phones (Earthvision
Cellular), dog beds (PetBedsbyGus), travel homes for
dogs (Stiles Enterprises), dog books, and many others. These prizes are being added to the initial
cash prizes of $4000 that launched the contest.
Judges from the dog world and the media are being contacted to decide
the winners and will be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, the
number of entrants in the contest is growing -- over 500 entries from all over
the world, including the
Interest in the
TV game and reality show co-produced with Eleventh Day Entertainment, based in
Encino, California, is growing, too. The
show combines elements of a real dog show into an amusing mix of look-alike
human and dog competitions. As in a dog
show, both the owners and their dogs will compete in a series of obedience,
agility, and intelligence trials, as well as in a variety of off-the-wall
competitions featured at local dog events, such as making the strangest sound
for a dog, being the most athletic pair, and showing off the best buns. Previously Eleventh Day Entertainment has created
numerous award-winning network and cable TV shows, including CBS’s 50th
Anniversary Special, TNT’s Emmy Award-winning mini-series, and MGM’s When the Lion
Roars.
So if you think
you look like your dog or know who someone who does, you’re invited to send in
your photo by December 1 to be entered in the 1st annual
competition. Send photos to photos@doyoulooklikeyourdog.com
or mail to Do You Look Like Your Dog,
