At the Chief Solano Kennel Club Show
at the Solano County Fairgrounds
Following are photos taken for an anthropology class on doing ethnographic research. The study involves comparing the owners of two very different types of dogs -- Pomeranians and Siberian Huskies. And it started off with a research project on describing a sense of place -- in this case the All Breeds Dog Show sponsored by the Chief Solano Kennel Club in Solano County California on Saturday, April 19, 2003, followed by the Specialty Show and Sweepstakes sponsored by the Northern California Pomeranian Club. Here are some photos taken at the show. Plus see photos of some owners at these shows who have been added to our Latest Entrants section. You'll find them on pages 33, 34, 35, 36, and 37. They're being considered for possible inclusion in our Do You Look Like Dog book to be published next year, as well as for the contest.
The fairgrounds became like a small city for the day, with about 1600
entrants and another 1000 or so AKC officials, plus family members and
friends of the entrants. This is the main street between the main
judging ring and Exposition Hall. |

People strolled along with their dogs and stopped to visit the many concessions selling products for dogs and dog owners. Many entrants dressed up in suits and dresses, like the woman in pink and wore arm bands showing their entry number. |
And here are some of the many
concessions stands along the way. |
